Content Marketing - Introduction on subject

As the times and technology change so do the customers and their expectations on how they make decision upon purchasing services and products.
The old approach of directly trying to sell something by showing the price and attributes does not work withing a market where the customer has abundance of options. Where instead of the company being the decision maker/provider, the customer has become one. For nowadays the customer, if not pleased with a certain product or service, can very easily find a replacing duplicate.

But how do we get potential customers interested then, if the old methods have passed?
Through reaching past the material appreciation and needs. Through creating value for the company in the eyes of the customer, by engaging them, creating a story they feel connected with, and by creation of consistent output and information of the company.
For if the company brings value beyond the service or product for the customer in her or his mind set they are likely to become a long time customer.
It is not about selling that one product, and being done with the interaction with the customer anymore. It is crucial to create a relationship that customer feels to be providing them something more defined, a meaning or an identity to be linked within themselves.

As Murthy A. mentioned in his research article on Content Marketing; customers do not get interested on products through a sales pitch anymore. Instead they are looking for news and ideas that could be of some help in their own life.

And this shows how the market has evolved into a buyers market, thanks to technology providing the customers more not only options, but tools to compare different products and services together. And by making companies and the actions they take more transparent.

Emotion overwrites the analytical side, when potential customer weighs their options, as stated by one of the instructors of HubSpot on Content Marketing. Which affects the potential cusomers when weighing two companies against each other, it often isn't what the material gain provides them, but what type of feelings they achieve about the decision, company or product.

Bethesda Softworks, a video game publisher, is a good example of a company that needs to create bonds to their customer base, by taking advantage upon how a consumer perceives them, and what type of feelings they elicit within a potential customer. By keeping them interested and excited of coming products, as many of them are in virtual form, updates and with the base purpose; to surface emotional responses from the customer.

Bethesda Softworks is located in Rockville, Maryland, USA. Founded by Christopher Weaver in 1986.
The company has several published games, and owns many different game titles/brands, such as Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, etc.
At the moment being best known for the major RPG game Elder Scrolls, based on the work of Julian Lefay, drawing alot of funds out of the said game.
In 1999 Zenimax media company was founded by Christopher Weaver, and these two companies have worked in unison over certain games since then.
